Q: Should I tell my password to someone if they ask for it or say they claim to member of the Runescape staff?

A: No. You should never tell anyone your password. The true members of the Runescape staff will never ask you for it. This is how some players try to steal your account.

Q: Are helper and macro programs allowed?

A: No. These programs are cheating. They give your character an unfair advantage over the other players. Using these programs can result in having your character's stats reset or even being banned from the game. Also some have been known to steal your password and have trojan’s and computer viruses in them.

Q: I saw a site that said they can hack Runescape and raise my stats. How do they do this?

A: They don’t, they are just trying to trick you into giving them your password.

Q: Are there any precautions I can take to keep my account safe?

Yes. Make sure your password is used for Runescape only, do not use the same password for any other site. Use a password that is at least seven characters long, it should also be letters and numbers. Some people like to use a password that is not a word at all, just random letters and numbers (just be sure it is something you will remember). Never, never tell your password to anyone.

Q: Where can I get walk throughs for the quests?

A: Using walk throughs takes all of the fun out of doing the quests. If you need help with part of a quest you can ask someone in the game or post your question in our forums, but it is better to try to figure them out on your own first. If you are really sure that you want to use a walk through, click here.

Q: Where can I see a map of the Runescape world?

A: Go to the Runescape main page then click on World Map.

Q: Can all non-player characters be attacked?

A: No, some characters are vital to quests and other parts of the game and therefore cannot be attacked.

Q: If I have a Runescape membership can I still play on the free servers?

A: Yes. When you have a membership you can play on any server, free or members. The only difference is that members items in the bank are shown with the title "Member Item" instead of their normal name, they also can not be worn, used, sold, or traded.

Q: What if my question is not answered in this guide?

A: Any questions that are not in this guide can be posted in our forums. They will be answered as soon as possible.
