Runescape - Dueling Arena Guide

Dueling Arena

(This is a Members Runescape feature)

Dueling is a feature that allows players to fight against each other outside of the wilderness. You can only duel with another player in the Dueling Arena, located north east of Al Kharid. When dueling, both players must agree to the battle, the prize (if any), and the terms of the battle.

When you want to duel, go to the Dueling Arena. Once there, go onto the walkways overtop of the Arenas. This is where you can challenge other players. When you place your mouse pointer over another player in the upper left of your screen it tells you the players name and their combat level. The combat levels are color coded, similar to the color codes used by monsters. Green combat levels are lower then yours. Yellow is equal to yours. Orange to red combat levels are higher then yours. This can help to decide whether you may wish to duel with the player or not.

To challenge another player, right click on a player and then click 'duel with'. They will get a message stating the challenge. To accept the challenge, they have to click on your name and the click the 'duel with' option. If another player wants to duel with you, you will get a message telling you this. If you accept the duel, click on the request and then click 'duel with'.

Once both players agree to the duel, a screen will open showing stake area and dueling options. If you wish to duel for items, click on the items you wish to wager. They will appear in the upper left as Your Stake. The other players wager will appear in the upper right as Opponent's Stake. If items are wagered, the winner of the duel keeps the items. If you duel for items and loose, you only loose the items that were placed at a stake. All of your other inventory items are safe, the three most valuable rule does not apply in a duel. Items do not have to be staked, you can duel just for fun.

There are several terms that both players must agree upon. They are:

  • No Forfeit: fight to the death, players are not allowed to forfeits
  • No Movement: duelers are not allowed to move
  • No Weapons: hand to hand combat, wieldable weapons are not allowed
  • No Armour: armour is not allowed
  • No Ranged: ranged weapons are not allowed
  • No Melee: hand-to-hand combat is not allowed
  • No Magic: magic is not allowed to be used
  • No Potions: neither dueler can drink potions
  • No Food: no food allowed, duelers may not heal
  • No Prayer: prayers are not allowed to be used
  • Obstacles: puts obstacles in the arena to hide behind
  • Flower Power: flowers must wield as weapons
  • No Jewelry: amulets and rings are not allowed

Checking the box means that they are not allowed. For example, if No Magic is checked magic is not allowed to be used.

Once both players agree upon the terms of battle and click Accept, a final confirmation screen will appear. The stakes and terms of battle will be listed. If you agree to the terms click Accept. Once both players click Accept on this screen, the duel will begin. Once the duel begins both duelers will be taken to one of the arenas. You can move around the whole arena, unless No Movement was checked. There may be other duelers in the arena, but you will only be allowed to attack the player that agreed to duel with you. There will be a yellow arrow over their head so you can tell who you are dueling with. The duel will continue until one player forfeits (if allowed) or dies.

After the duel ends both players will be taken to the hospital to be healed. Players using ranged will have the arrows they fired placed back in their inventory after the duel ends. The winner will collect the stake, if one was made.
