Runescape - The Giant Dwarf Quest Guide

The Giant Dwarf Quest Guide

Thanks go to DarkChrono for writing this quest guide

Five hundred years have passed since the rule of King Alvis, saviour of Keldagrim, victim of his own inventions.

He founded the Consortium: the gathering of mining companies that were to serve the monarchy. But eventually the monarchy came to serve the Consortium.

By the time of his death, the monarchy was all but abolished. Now the Kings in Keldagrim are but a distant memory... with only the statue of King Alvis to remind the people of the old days. The dark days.

So begins the Rise of the Red Axe, the new multipart storyline centered around the dwarves and their capital of Keldagrim. The first quest, The Giant Dwarf, introduces the city and the powerful business Consortium that rules the dwarven realm. Discover weird going-ons, narrowly escape from falling chunks of rock, ride around in minecarts and... make sure you don't bump into the wrong person on the way to the city!

Start point:
The Keldagrim mines east of Rellekka and north of the mountain camp. Follow the dwarven statues to the underground river.
To start:
Speak to the boatman near the entrance of the mines.

Members only:
Yes
Items Needed:
1 Coal
1 regular Log
Tinderbox
Redberry Pie or 1 Pie Dish and a Jug
1 Iron Bar
3 cut Sapphires
Runes for a Telegrab (1 Law and 1 Air)
Several or all kinds of ores and bars (from clay to mithril, mine and smith at least 25 of each)
At least 200 gold
An extra 150gp is needed if you want to use the cart to travel to Ice Mountain (Dwarven Mine)

  1. To start out, take the boatman to Keldagrim for free. When you reach Keldagrim, there is some "fancy" cinematics and you'll end up crashing into a giant dwarf statue. One of the black guard leaders, Commander Veldaban, will get "angry" at you. He will ask you to help Balistar the Sculptor to remake the statue.
    ( Done)

  2. To reach him, go on the eastern half of Keldagrim, and look for a building east of the crafting marketplace that has 2 people in it. Talk to him and he will tell you to get some stuff (Boots, a special battle axe, and a very special suit).
    ( Done)

  3. Talk to Santiri, the weapons shop owner north of the Bank of the western part of Keldagrim. Talk to him awhile and he will tell you to repair the battle axe to its former glory. He will tell you to talk to a Icamdo Dwarf. You can find the dwarf south of Rimmingtown and Port Sarim, he's called Thurgo (If you remember from the Knights Sword quest). You can take the cart to Ice Mountain, you will end up in the northern part of the Dwarven Mine. The cost for a ticket is 150gp. The carts are located in the south eastern part of the eastern side of Keldagrim. BUT before you talk to him, make a redberry pie (just get a pie dish, a jug, and Port Sarim food shop will have the pot of flour and redberry). Also grab along a iron bar and 3 sapphires. Talk to Thurgo and he'll tell you to get him a redberry pie. Talk to him and feed him it, and he'll help you fix up the battleaxe! (You may be asked if you would like to go back to Keldagrim now, agree to go.) Use the sapphires with the battleaxe.
    ( Done)

  4. The special suit is quite easy to get. Grab a coal ore (Or mine it at the top right corner of Keldragrim) and a regular log, also 200 gold coins. Talk to Vermundi at the crafting marketplace (near the silk icon) at the eastern part of Keldragrim. She will tell you to talk to the Librarian in Keldagrim-West to get the designs. He is in the north eastern most building on the west side. Talk to him, he will tell you to search the bookcases. Search them until you find the'Book on costumes'. Go back to Vermundi in the east. You will give her the book. She will tell you that she needs coal and a log to power her spinning machine. Use the log and coal on the spinning machine, and use the tinderbox on it. Talk to her again, she will ask for a fee of 200 gold coins (because she's not rich). It will run and she will give you it.
    ( Done)

  5. The boots are easy, but only a little tricky. All you need is 1 law rune and 1 air rune, for Telekinetic grab. Talk to Saro (who is in the western part of Keldragrim, southwest of the bank). Talk to him about boots that are like a king, and he will tell you that he sold them to a "strange" dwarf, Dromund. He will give you directions (he's in the just building north of the bank) and talk to Dromund. Dromund will make some threats when you try to get the boots. Now you have a final resort, steal them. There are 2 parts of the boots, the left and the right, both seperated. The left is easy, take the from the table when Dromund isn't look. The right boot is a little hard. When you try to take it, the cat will guard it. But the boot is on a window platform. (You getting what the tele grab is for now?). Walk out of the house and go where the window is. When you try to grab it, it says that its out of reach. Just simple telegrab it, but make sure Dromund isn't look, or else he will catch you (nothing happens when you do). Congradulations, you have all 3 parts Balistar asked you for.
    ( Done)

  6. But you're not done yet, he will tell you to give all the items to Riki, the assistant (who sounds pretty apathetic). He will tell you that he needs something for the head, that isn't a crown. He tells you to look around and find out from the Consortium what kind of head shape the statue should have. Go west into the marketplace and up the stairs, this is the Consortium. Talk to the secretarys. You find out that they are too busy to talk to you, even the secretarys tell so, so go back and talk to Commander Veldaban and he will tell you to do some tasks to earn their trust to go to a meeting with the directors.
    ( Done)

  7. Talk to the Brown Engine secretary to do several tasks. All the tasks require you to return some ore, so its good to have some extra ore in your bank. Keep doing the tasks until the secretary will tell you to talk to the Director. Talk to him and try to be part of the company. He will tell you no, but ask him you can do tasks for him. His tasks are to return items in the bar form. He will give you some gold in return. After a few tasks, he asks you if you considered joining the Brown Engine. Tell him you would and he would accept you. After talking to him about Balistar, he will tell you to attend to one of his meetings. (I am unsure whether this works for other companies, since it seems you can only join one. But if it does work for other companies, they will most likely ask for logs or other items.) (Note: the White Chisel worked basically the same way as the Brown Engine.)
    ( Done)

  8. Talk to Commander Veldaban, and when your ready, ATTEND the meeting. It's best not to choose the other. The dwarves will have a meeting and will debat. Commander Veldaban will introduce you, and you will choose (the player has no free will). The dwarf you helped with and joined with is the one you choose (Brown Engine in my choice).
