View Full Version : What I would like to see in RS next

Ello all. I can't find where they moved the original poll in this topic, so I'm putting my answer here:
1) - Players of high magical ability should be able to enchant weapons, etc. But there would be a limit somewhere so that folks aren't spewing out hundreds of enchanted items for the open market. Or maybe only the maker can use it? Something like that.
2) - Next I would like to see you be able to choose from which race you want to belong before playing, so that you could choose to be a human, or an Elf or Dwarf, etc. That would be really great!
PS: Also Elves would start with a ranged attack bonus and Dwarves would start with a Mining, Smithing, and Crafting Bonus. Not to much, but just to show that those are areas that they grew up in, literally.

Everything in RS is fine for me right now...except one thing, that i believe that Jagex hasn't even bothered about yet...and thats the mining skill...it seems that nearly every skill has been deemed easier to level up now, woodcutting now has more trees in F2p, Ranged is now more effective due to new combat system, and the new exp for combat allows for quicker combat lvling, crafting can now be lvled through other methods, magic through combat also....yet few skills remain untouched...mining, smithing, herblaw (except for the new pot).
Mining, although it hasn't been touched in ages, isn't that bad of a skill to level up, however, except for one small issue regarding the levels of miners. Fellow miners on this site have probably already heard me complain about this before, but here i go once again. One thing that i would absolutely love to see done with mining is what i call "high level superiourity", basically meaning that the higher lvl miner on any rock should get a better percentage chance of mining the rock first. I cant tell you how many times ive been outmined by lower lvls, yea some may say thats just bad luck, but i dont see combat being lvled based on luck, i dont see ranged being lvled based on luck, and i dont see cooking, or any other skill being lvled based on luck...a higher lvl combatant will get exp faster because he can hit higher and faster, a higher lvl cooker will get xp faster because he will burn less, a higher lvl fisher will get xp faster because he can fish faster/more effecitively and so on...but a higher lvl miner....well...maybe you can get "lucky" on a good day and get more coal than you did yesterday....
I would defiently like to see mining improved....one of these days...

First, implementing character classes now would be pointless. There are too many people that are great in there skills that having classes with certain skills higher than others would be bad; the high lvl people wouldn't get the bonus'.
Next, enchantable items should stay away from weaps and stay with jewelry for now. It's sound like a good idea, but not good enough for a go.
@ Ivan: Crafting, smithing, cooking, fishing... they all are skills for one to do privately. Mining, however, is very competetive. Even though cooking lvls decrease the chance to burn, mining is different. Everyone should have a chance to get ores as much as the others. If one with a lower lvl gets more ore than one with a higher lvl, it's by chance/luck.
I agree with ya Ivanr77. They did add more rocks to most of the mines, but since mining is such a popular skill, it's still sometimes hard to get into a mine that's not packed full. Maybe adding a higher level mining guild would help. Not something full of rune rocks or anything like that, just a normal mine. But then again, if they did add a high level mine, it would probably be too far from a bank to make it worthwhile to mine there...

I got to agree with Ivan on mining as well (Even though I am a really bad miner). It's only fair.

Instead of all these updates to dueling (which I very rarely use), id like to see these new places that they were talking about... I mean, come on. New ice place vs. 'Flower Power'...

@Leroy...mining really isn't the most competitive skill in RS....actually pretty much every competitive skill is a competitive skill in RS because everyone wnats to be a high lvl. I would personally say that Smithing, and combat have got to be the most competitive skills in RS.
Although, combat has been made easier to lvl up, Smithing, and mining have been left untouched, with the same solid xp that its been giving for a longgggg time now.
I don't think that Mining should be based on luck, i didn't get 1.7mil xp by clicking over 20k coal rocks to HOPE that this lvl 60 miner next to me in the guild doesn't outmine me.... no no no it doesn't work that way, you work hard, you reap the benfits, its not the other way around, i didnt get lvl 70 combat so a lvl 30 could get "lucky" and defeat me. the "luck" of the game pretty much balances out who gets how much ore rather evenly....i constantly see people saying they can get about 2k coal in a day (meaning they lvled for 8 hours str8). That doesn't make sense, why can't a lvl 80+ get more ore, and faster than a lvl 60? 20 lvl difference, over 2mil xp difference...and yet we still mine as quickly.
Even if they don't wish to upgrade the mining effieceny of higher lvls, they might as well give us more xp, xp should be based on skill lvl as other skills, such as a higher lvl miner, or smither getting more xp for coal or steel based upon his own lvl in that skill...that would greatly help out.
ehh just my 3 pesos
The way mining is now, who gets the ore based on luck, needs to be rethought. Since it based on luck, lag also plays a big part too. I've seen people mining rocks before it even changes to the 'full' color for me. You can guesstamate when the ore should respawn, but if the rock hasn't changed on your screen you still can't mine it.

I have found if I am mining and some one come sin and tries to take over, I just keep clickign and clicking even if it is empty and I normally get the ore when it does respawn..
the whole others getting it first may be base don that the fact the higher you are it does seem to get a bit slower at gaining exp to level up.. so they may have figured less chance of striking the ore to even the exp gain out for higher levels... just that THEY did not tak ein the consideration that most have to share the damn rocks with people lower who get a better chance of getting the ore because just that they ar elower...
but yeah they need a special guild like the fishing guild with a bank in it... make it like lev 80 and up can get in ;) *winks at shay*
ya know mining rooms would be neat... get a room for just your self.. pay a small fee keep it till you log out... no pissing wiht little miners.. lol yeah I know I am dreaming.. *wakes up now*
May be a dream, but it sure sounds nice :) Also well worth some gp.
