Runescape - Guide For New Runescape Members

Guide For New Runescape Members

Thanks go to Leroy for writing this guide

When you are new to members in RuneScape, you probably want to do a lot of things at once. But since you are unfamiliar to it, you'll have a hard time. Below is a guide to new members that should be pretty easy to understand. If you need any help, do not be afraid to ask on The Boards for some help.

Easy Navigation

Do the Tree Gnome Village Quest and Grand Tree Quest pretty soon. They will allow you to use the gliders and trees to move around and save you a LOT of precious law runes. They are located in many areas, so finding one shouldn't be much of a problem. They are in: Al Kharid, Varrock, The Dig Site, Ardounge, White Wolf Mountain, Southern Karamja, Gnome Village, and Gnome Stronghold.

But all in all, start with the Fishing Contest. That will allow you to travel under White Wolf Mountain instead of worrying about the wolves overhead. Plus, it is a lot easier since it's quick and a good range spot for a lower range levels.

Items

Cloths
Do the Priest In Peril Quest and you'll gain access to the area East of Varrock where you can buy some new cloths. Inside the Gnome stronghold is another place to buy them, as well as Burthrope to get the Fremennik items. You will have to complete the Fremennik Trials in order to use the helms, but the ones they offer increase attacking stats and have defence stats near a rune full helm.

Dragon Weapons
The Lost City Quest and Hero's Quest are the main quests to use dragon items. You'll need some quests done first, at least 55 quest points for the Hero's Quest.

Extra

Areas
Some areas that members benifit from are much more intensive than one would think. There is an area just north of Burthrope called the Games Room. There, you can go and have fun challenging others to different games. Also the Castle Wars, where 2 teams fight out in a medival "Capture the Flag".

Skills
The only skill in which you have to complete a quest for is Herblore. Complete the Druidic Ritual Quest and you'll be leveled to 3. There, you can start identifying guams and making attack potions.

Check the Gnome Stronghold and try your hand at the agility course. Not bad to get it to lvl 10 at least since it helps restore energy, and for new members, you'll usually be running more than experienced ones. If you want the Boots of Lightness (-4.5kg), then complete the Temple of Ikov.

The other skills (such as Fletching, Thieving, and the new Slayer skill) are all self-starters. You can go to many different areas and start gaining experience

Treasure Trails

Don't worry too much about trails since you can't access all the areas yet. Some require going to Mort Myre, some into West Ardougne, ect... However, if you wish to do them, then we have a great source of information here.
