Fletching is the skill used for making arrows and bows. There are many different kinds of bows and arrows that you can make. Each one requires a different fletching level to make. Each bow also required a different ranged level to use. (See Ranged Weapon Requirements)

There are several different kinds of bows you can make. The better the wood the bow is made from the more accurately it will shoot. On the down side, the better the wood the harder it is to chop. See Woodcutting Level Requirements to find out the woodcutting level required for each kind of wood.

To make a bow you need wood, a knife, and bow string. (See Spinning String to see how to make Bow String.) To make a bow, click on the knife and then the wood. You will get a message asking you what you would like to make. If your fletching level it not high enough to make the kind of bow you choose, it will tell you this, along with the level that is required. Unstrung bows show with a '(u)' following the name of the bow. To string a bow, click on the bow string and then the bow.

Ogre Composite Bow

Items needed:

Achey Tree Logs
Wolf Bones
Knife
Bow String

NOTE: You must complete the Zogre Flesh Eaters Quests to an Ogre Composite Bow.

Level 30 Fletching is required to make and Ogre Composite Bow. Use the knife with the logs, the bones will be used automatically. Use with the Bow String to finish. You gain 45 experience for fletching the bow and 45 experience for stringing the bow.

Arrows

Items needed:

There are many kinds of arrow you can make, everything from bronze arrows to rune arrows. The arrows are all make from regular logs, it is the arrow tip that is put on that gives names it. The better the arrow the more damage it does. On the down side, the better the arrow the better the bow it requires.

Making arrows requires a knife, regular logs, feathers, and arrow heads. To make arrows, click on the knife and then the logs. You will get a message asking you what you want to make, click on the arrow shafts. If you right click on the arrow shafts you will be given a choice to cut 1, 5, 10 or 'x' amount of logs into arrow shafts. You get 15 arrow shafts from one set of logs. To add feathers, click on the feathers and then the arrow shafts. Feathers must be added before the arrow tips. To add arrow tips, click on the arrow tips and then the headless arrows.

Note: While made in groups of 15, the Total exp. gained amounts in the chart below for arrows with heads is the total experience gained for making 1 complete arrow (making shaft, adding feather, and adding tip).

Ogre Arrows

Items needed:

NOTE: You must complete the Big Chompy Bird Hunt to make Ogre Arrows.

Level 5 Fletching is required to make Ogre Arrows. Ogre Arrows can only be used with an Ogre Bow or Ogre Composite Bow. You gain 6 experience for each Ogre Arrow made.

1. Use the knife with the Achey Tree Logs to make Ogre Arrow Shafts. You get 2 to 6 Ogre Arrow Shafts per log.
    (1.6 exp gained per Ogre Arrow Shaft cut)

2. Use the Feathers with the Shafts to make Flighted Ogre Arrows. It takes 4 Feathers for each Ogre Arrow Shaft.

3. Use the Chisel with the Wolf Bones. You get 2 to 6 Wolfbone Arrowtips per set of Wolf bones.

Brutal Arrows

Items needed:

Use the knife with the Achey Tree Logs to make Ogre Arrow Shafts. You get 2 to 6 Ogre Arrow Shafts per log. Use the Feathers with the Shafts to make Flighted Ogre Arrows. It takes 4 Feathers for each Ogre Arrow Shaft. Use Nails with the Flighted Ogre Arrow to make Brutal Arrows. Brutal Arrows can only be used with an Ogre Bow or Ogre Composite Bow.
