Woodcutting

Items needed:

Axe (Iron Axe shown)

This skill is used for cutting down trees to get wood, which is needed to make fires for cooking or for making bows and arrows in Members Runescape. This skill requires a axe. The higher your Woodcutting level, better the axe you can use and the more kind of trees you can cut. To raise this skill level, you need to cut down trees.

To use this skill, click on the tree you want to cut. The wood automatically appears in your inventory. You will continue cutting wood until the tree is completely cut down or your inventory is full.

Different axes require different levels of Woodcutting to use.

Levels required to cut trees

Different trees require different levels of Woodcutting. The better the tree is for making bows out of the higher the level required to cut the tree.

Levels required to cut jungle patches

Jungle patches are located in Tai Bwo Wannai. A machete, instead of an axe, is required to cut them. You will get Thatch Spars instead of logs. Cutting Jungle Patches is part of the Tai Bwo Wannai Cleanup Mini Game.

Firemaking

Items needed:

Logs (Oak logs shown)
Tinderbox

This skill is useful for lighting fires to cook on. The higher your Firemaking level the better the logs you can light, gaining more experience faster. You will need logs and a tinderbox. The tinderbox can be purchased at a general store. You only need to buy one, it can be used over and over. To light a fire, click on the tinderbox and then on the logs. If the logs are in your inventory, you will automatically drop them.

Firemaking level requirements for other items

There are items that you can light, other then logs. Some of these items require different levels to light. To light an item use a tinderbox with it. You do not gain experience for lighting these items. Once an item is lit, you can click on the item to extinguish it. The pictures in the chart below show the item unlit and then lit.
