The Villagers/Adventurers

Rolayne Twickit/Smiddi Ryak and Forester/Woman-at-arms
The villagers wear red tinted clothing and the adventurers red capes (red is the hardest/best reward color all around) to tell their difficulty if you forget. These people are not good at defending themselves (Smiddi won’t defend herself at all) and when escorting these people you will have to face 5 monsters per engagement.

Jayene Kliyn/Valantay Eppel and Ranger/Apprentice
The villagers wear yellow tinted clothing and the adventurers yellow capes (yellow is the medium color all around) to tell their difficulty if you forget. These people are able to defend themselves but not well and when escorting these people you will have to face 4 monsters per engagement.

Dalcian Fang/Fyiona Fray and Mage/Adventurer
The villagers wear blue tinted clothing and the adventurers blue capes (blue is the easy/smallest reward color all around) to tell their difficulty if you forget. These people are decently able to defend themselves and when escorting these people you will have to face 3 monsters per engagement.

Routes

Easy
The easy (blue) route contains the smallest level monsters and yields the smallest reward token (blue). With this route you can evade all monster events by going to an evade event path on either side (west and east) of the event location.

Medium
The medium (yellow) route contains medium level monsters and yields the medium reward token (yellow). With this route you can evade monster events by going to the evade event path on the west side of the event location after you have killed half of the monsters, rounded up (if there are 3 monsters you must kill 2).

Hard
The hard (red) route contains the hardest level monsters and yields the largest reward token (red). With this route it is impossible to evade any event.

Monster Events

Basic Strategy
When in a new area first get yourself in front of the person you are escorting. Often at least one of the monsters will lock onto the person you are escorting and if you are in the way they will stop at you and not attack. This means you can attack those who are attacking you and get to those waiting in line later. If the person you are escorting takes damage you can give them some food. However, sharks do not work on them (don’t know why) and I don’t think it heals the same as it heals you. The ectophial comes in handy when your person is attacked by a monster that will not stop attacking him or her until he or she is dead and you can not kill the monster before that happens. You use the ectophial and just walk back to the adventurers to start over again. You may lose that trip but it makes things a great deal easier.

Ghasts
Ghasts are level 80, 109 and 139 and give 80, 110 and 140 prayer exp respectively. You will need a druid pouch to make the ghasts visible to be attacked. If the person you are escorting is attacked by a ghast use the pouch on the barely visible ghast to be able to attack it and make it attack you. You can either stock up on druid pouch charges before you start and therefore not need to keep the blessed silver sickle with you or you can keep the sickle with you and fill up your pouch just enough for your next encounter and therefore not need to bring a Rod of Ivandis.

Shades
Shades are level 80, 110 and 140 and drop Riyl, Asyn and Fiyr remains respectively. Shades will give you no time to set up to defend the person you are escorting and may go through you to get to him or her. And worse yet, shades will not stop attacking the person if they get to him or her. Shades are only encountered in Mort’ton and the only event you get in Mort’ton is the shade event.

Vampyre Juvinates
Juvinates are level 59, 90 and 119 and become level 70, 100 and 130 respectively when angry. Juvinates will not stop attacking the person you are escorting if they get to him or her. They heal quickly, but can be defeated after falling below half health. If you are interested the rewards you can receive from their human forms (which include level 2 clues and adamantium scimitars) you will need to use the special ability of the Rod of Ivandis when the Juvinates health drops below half and then use your Guthix balance potion on the held Juvinate. It may die, turn into a human or get angry. A Rod of Ivandis is made by using a silver or mithril bar on a furnace (need both in inventory) while having a sapphire and rod mould in your inventory. You then cast enchant sapphire on it and then use it on the well under the temple on the Salve with a rope in your inventory. Guthix balance is made by adding Harrlander, then Red Spider’s eggs, then garlic and silver dust (silver dust is made by using a silver bar on the bone crusher the floor above where the ectophial teleports you). If you decide not to go after the possible rewards you can just use any silver weapon. The Rod of Ivandis is better than a blessed silver sickle. However, if you want to try silver bolts on a crossbow may also work (I have not tried it myself) and you can always make more bolts with a bolt mould and the silver bars you receive as a reward at the furnace in Burgh de Rott. I would also like to note that if you are using the Rod and are training with the fourth style you will need to re-select that style after you switch back to your normal weapon.

Giant Snakes
Giant snakes are level 80, 109 and 189 and you can get a giant snake hide off of them if you use a knife with a dead snake carcass (this is the only area where a knife is not supplied when needed). Snakes will swamp you and can hit high, but not all that often. I might suggest that this is a scenario where you strongly consider protect from melee if they are greatly higher than you.

Giant Snails
Giant snails are level 80, 109 and 139 and drop snail shells and rarely perfect snail shells. A snelm can greatly reduce the hits of their attacks. While wearing a blood ‘n’ tar snelm I received no more than 0, 1 and 7 damage respectively. The shells can be taken to Barlak in Dorgesh-Kaan to be sold for 600 and the perfects will get you 500gp and some crafting exp.

Nail Beasts
Nail bests are level 69, 98 and 141 and drop big bones and nail beast nails. The nails can be used to make Sanfew Serum, made by adding ground unicorn horn, snake weed and nail beast nails. It will combine the properties of super restore, cure poison and cure disease potions all in one. However, in order to make the potion you must have completed Zogre Flesh Eaters and talk to Sanfew to have him explain it to you. Nail beasts also attack three hits at a time. However, they attack half as fast as a scimitar and do not hit high.

Tentacle Beast
This monsters will only attack on the hard (red) route. And will always have a level 140 head and 4 level 99 tentacles. You first need to kill all the tentacles before you can kill the head. If the person you are escorting gets attacked by a tentacle attack that tentacle until it attacks you. If the head attacks the person you are escorting you had might as well teleport out because no matter how many times you reduce its hp to 0 it won’t die until all the tentacles are dead.

Obstacle Events

Bog
Use a bladed weapon on the spiny bush in the area to get sticks. Fill up as many inventory spaces as you have open with sticks. Use the sticks with the individual squares of the bog and walk across each square that appears firm enough to walk on. Sticks may be lost into the bog and if you run out just step into a soft square and get more sticks from the bush and go back to where you left off.

River Pass
There should be a backpack in this area that you can search to find a knife. Use the knife on the tree that has vines hanging down on it. After you take down all three short vines use one with another to make a long one. Use the vine with the overhanging branch of the tree next to the one you took the vines off of. Right click and jump across and then you can leave.

The Birth of a Ghast
This is where your mediocre food comes in handy. In this area there is a bronze axe near the exit, a dead tree next to that, a tinderbox next to the fire pit and small snails roaming around that you can kill and cook. However, this may take too long and the people might turn into a ghast. I would suggest just keeping some mediocre food (such as lobsters that I used) that you can just sacrifice and feed to the people. The number of people is effected by the level of person you are escorting.

Broken Bridge
Two things may happen when you get this event. If there are dead trees right next to you just kill the level 23 zombie to get a bronze axe. Wield the axe and cut down the tree trees and use the logs on the broken part of the bridge. If the trees are not there you will be attacked by a wave of either level 30, 45 or 60 zombie lumberjacks. There will be five per wave that you need to kill. They will drop bones and a plank and possibly some lumberjack clothing. After you get 3 planks you kill the level 23 zombie to get the axe and wield it and use the planks with the broken part of the bridge. If you do not get any lumberjack clothing on the first wave and want some you can wait for more waves and kill the lumberjacks till you get some. However, you can not get more than 1 item per time that you get this event. Boots are the most common and are received in every route. I have only received pants in the easy route and a hat in the medium and hard routes. The shirt can be received anywhere and the lumberjacks that drop the shirt are stronger than those that don’t. The experience given per log for a full set of Lumberjack Clothing is found below.

Abidor Crank

This event will heal you and increase your max hp if you are healthy enough and turn any rotten food you have into stew.
