A Fairy Tale Part I Quest Guide - Growing Pains

Why are all the crops failing? Can you help the Group of Advanced Gardeners to save their precious farming patches? Does having green fingers help when faced with a 6 foot tall gorse bush with a nasty temper? Do you suffer from Growing Pains?

1. Talk to Martin and learn he needs help with his crop. He as well as other farmers are getting a reduced yield. He wants you to find out the cause and rectify it. Begin by talking with other farmers. (NOTE: it does not matter which farmer you talk to, you just need to talk to 5 of them.)
   
   I seen these ones....

   • Elstan (farming area south east of Falador) - thinks it is lack of rain
   • Taria (bush patch southwest Falador)- says its insects
   • Dreven (bush patch south of Varrock)- blames it on adventurers coming along digging it up and planting their won.
   • Torrell (bush patch south of East Ardougne) - says it is the seasons, if you find what is upsetting the season then you can find out what is causing the harvest to fail.
   • Lyra (farming area near ectofunctus) - says it is fairies

   I checked my quest status and now I need to go back and talk to Martin again.

2. Speak with Martin and tell him what you were told from the other farmers. He will say it makes sense and sends you off to speak to a fairy. So head to Zanaris.

3. You will see the Fairy Queen is gone and there is a Fairy Godfather. Talk to him and learn about Tanglefoot and the queen. Head to see the queen and talk to Fairy Nuff (she is north of the bank fairys). She will explain to you what she needs and give you a list of the queens symptoms and tell you to find Zandar Horfyre to see if he knows what ails the queen. Head to the Dark Wizard tower near Falador (it is located west of Falador north of the Makover Mage).

4. Go to top of the Dark Wizard tower and talk to Zandar. He looks over the list of the queens symptoms. You are gonna need to kill Tanglefoot but first you need to seek a necromancer by the name of Malignus Mortifer. He can be found near Port Sarim west of the Rune Shop there.

5. Head to where the group of mages are to the west of Port Sarim and talk to Malignius. Ask him to help you with your quest. He will tell you how to kill the Tanglefoot once you help him. Head to the Draynor Manor and dig up a skull in a grave there. You will need a spade to do so. Go round to the north side of the mansion and dig at the tombstone there and you will get a Draynor Skull. Go back to Mortifer.

6. Talk to Mortifer again and learn that only enchanted secateurs can hurt him. To make them is different for each person for me it was: secatuers, nature talisman, red vine worm and jangerberries. (Another player needed: baby dragon bones, an uncut diamond, and a raw cave eel.) Take these items to the nature spirit and have him perform the ceremony of Phasma Phasmatis Natura.

7. Head to the Mort Myre Swamp to see the Nature Spirit. Be sure to have on your Ghostspeak Amulet. You explain to him why you need the secatuers enchanted. Then it will do a cutscene of the ceremony then you are ready to battle. Head to Zanaris again.

8. Now head to the Cosmic Altar to find the Tanglefoot. There is a gap through the wall. Follow along the path pass the lvl 45 Baby Tanglefoots. You will come to a place where you find the Lvl 111 Tanglefoot. Be sure to have wielded your magical secatuers. Once you defeat the Tanglefoot pick up the Queens Secatuers, the little ones may attack you. Head back out and go to the Queen Fairy.

9. Talk to Fairy Nuff again. She will tell you to go see the Fairy Godfather then to come back. When you talk to godfather he takes the secateurs saying he will give them to the Queen Fairy.
   
   QUEST COMPLETE.
   
   When you do return to Nuff to ask about the queen you find out that the Fairy Godfather has not given Nuff the Queen's secateurs. Hmmm makes you wonder what next part contains.

If you loose your Magic Secateurs talk to Malignus Mortifer about getting another set.
