Merlin's Crystal Quest Guide


Merlin the wizard has carelessly become imprisoned inside a giant crystal. Take up king Arthur's quest to free Merlin and become one of the knights of the round table.

  1. Go to Camelot Castle. Talk to King Arthur, ask to be a knight of the round table. Talk to all of the Knights.

      Sir Tristam
      Sir Pelleas
      Sir Bedivere
      Sir Lancelot
    (Be sure to talk to all of them, if not you will probably have to come back and talk to them before doing the next part.)

  2. Head south, past Catherby, to Keep LeFaye (the name on the map). Try the doors, they will be locked.

  3. Go north to Catherby. Talk to Arhein, go through all of the options with him.
    ( Done)

  4. Go behind the candle shop (the western most building). There will be a crate there, hide in it. After a while you will be given the option to get out of the crate, get out.
    ( Done)

  5. You will be on the dock of the Keep LeFaye. The enemies here are Renegade Knights (level 35). Open the Large door and go inside the keep. Go up the staircase and then up the next to the third floor.

  6. You will see Sir Mordred (level 39) in this area, talk to him. He will attack. Near the end of the battle Morgan Le Faye will appear, asking you to spare her son. Say "Tell me how to untrap Merlin and I might." Ask where to find Excalibur and ask what the magic words are.

  7. Climb down both staircases, and leave the keep. You can go out through the large door on the west wall. Once outside, kill a Giant Bat (level 27) and take the bones do not bury them.

  8. Go north to Catherby. Stop at the dock with Arhein, buy 2 buckets from him or take the bucket near the hives when you get there and wait for it to respawn and take a second one.

  9. Go to the candle shop (the western most building in Catherby). Talk to the Candle Maker, ask about a black candle.
    ( Done)

  10. Go to the building north of the bank, take the Insect Repellent. Head west to the field with the Beehives in it. Go into the field (get the buckets here if you did not buy them from Arhein) and use the Insect Repellent with one of the Beehives. Then use the bucket with the Beehive to get a Bucket of wax.

  11. Go back and talk to the Candle Maker again. He will give you a Black candle.

  12. Travel to Varrock. Go to the south eastern part of town. South of the Rune Shop (where you can be teleported to the Rune Essence) you will see a building with an alter inside. Right click on the alter and 'check' it. The inscription should read 'Snarthon Candtrick Termanto'.

  13. Travel west towards Taverley. After you pass through the Members Gate, turn south. You will see a lake, go to the center of it. Talk to The Lady of the Lake, ask her about Excalibur.

  14. (NOTE: if you already have bread, you can skip this step and go straight to the Port Sarim Jewlery shop.) Go south east toward Draynor Village, go to the Windmill east of town. Before you go inside, take 1 wheat from the field. Go up to the third floor of the Windmill, use the grain with the hopper. Click on the Hopper Controls to operate it. Go back down the main floor. Use the pot with the flour in the Flour Bin.

  15. Go west to Port Sarim. Stop in the building just past the bar and fill your bucket with water. Go into the building south of the Jewlery shop. Use the water with the flour to make Bread Dough. Use the Bread Dough with the range.

  16. Go north to the Jewlery shop, open the door. Give the bread to the Beggar, he will turn into The Lady of the Lake and give you Excalibur.
    ( Done)

  17. Make sure you have Excalibur, bat bones, the black candle, and a tinderbox, in your inventory. Then head north west to Camelot Castle.
    ( Done)

  18. Go through the castle gates and follow the eastern outer wall north to pavillion. There will be markings on the floor in the center. Use the tinderbox with the black candle to light it.
    ( Done)

  19. When you are ready, stand in the center of the markings on the floor and right click on the bat bones then click drop (NOTE: be sure to right click so you do not bury them).

  20. Thrantax The Mighty (level 92) will appear (NOTE: if you do it right you will not have to fight him). You will have to click on the words from the inscription from the Chaos Alter: 'Snarthon Candtrick Termanto'.

  21. Go into the castle, and into the round room on the south east side. Climb up the ladder and the next one.
    ( Done)

  22. Right click Excalibur and click use, then click on the Giant Crystal. Go down to the main floor and talk to King Arthur. You will be rewarded.
