Thormac has lost his rare lesser kharid scorpions after leaving their cage door open. These scorpions have hidden in areas that are rather difficult to get into. You will have to overcome various challenges (and drink a lot of beer) to get all the scorpions back If you manage to help him Thormac will improve your battle staffs.

Go to the Sorcerors Tower (west of Catherby and south of the Seer's Village). Go to the top floor, talk to Thormac. Say "What do you need assistance with?" and "So how would I go about catching them then?". Thormac will give you a Scorpion Cage. You can ask what's in if for you if you want. Then say "Ok, I will do it then.". Leave the Tower.

Go north to the Seer's Village. Talk to a Seer there. Say "Your friend Thormac sent me to speak to you." He will tell you "I can see a scorpion that you seek. It would appear to be near some nasty spiders. I can see two coffins there as well. The scorpion seems to be going through some crack in the wall. It's gone into some sort of secret room.".

Stop at the bank. Take a weapon and armour, cure poison potion, food, runes to teleport, the Scorpion Cage, and a Dragonfire Shield. (NOTE: if you do not have the Dragonfire Shield, go to the second floor of Lumbridge Castle and talk to Lord Horacio, he will give you one.)

Head east to Taverley. Once there, go south through the town. You will see an area of dead trees surrounding a ladder, go down the ladder. If you look in the room to the west, after you go down the ladder, you will see a Kharid Scorpion. This is what you are after.

Go north, there will be Skeletons (level 18) in the area. You will see a Prison Door on the east wall, open it. When you open it, the Suits of Armour (level 19) on either side will attack. After you defeat them, go through the door.

Follow the path leading from the south western end of the room to the west and then south. There will be Poison Scorpions (level 20) in the area.

Go east, you will see jail cells. Attack the Jailer (level 42), he will drop the Jail Key, take it. Use the Jail Key with the door to the southern cell. Talk to Velrak the Explorer. Say "So... do you know anywhere good to explore?" and then "Yes please!". He will give you the Dusty Key.

Stop at the bank. You will need about 270gp. Head north west from the Seer's Village, going around the north side of McGrubor's Wood. You can follow the coal cart tracks most of the way.
