A mysterious stranger called Lucien asks you to go on a mission deep under the Temple of Ikov in central Kandarin. He wants you to retrieve an artifact known as the Staff of Armadyl. Towards the end of the quest you are presented with a choice on how to complete the quest.

Head to the Flying Horse Inn located in East Ardougne across the bridge to the west and to the north. Talk to Lucien and he will tell you he is searching for a hero to go on a mission. Tell him you are a hero and you will find out that he is in need of the staff of armadyl located in the temple northeast from there. Go through the different chats. You will get a pendant from Lucien who tells you that you can‘t get in the chamber of fear without it. Next he mentions he can’t remain here and will be in the woods north of Varrock.

Ok head to the bank just west of here and north and get out your lit candle, you can get a candle from catherby and light it by using candle with your tinderbox, need no armor, retrieve your knife so you can cut web then drop it. Put on your pendant Lucien gave you and leave it on until you are done with quest.

Head northeast from ardougne to the Temple of Ikov. If you follow the road north until the fishing guild is on your left the temple is on the right in the woods. Go down the ladder and then go through the room to the west and go down the steps. You will see a red dot which is the Boots of Lightness you need. To get the boots use knife on web until you slash it then go in and pick them up. Now you put on the boots and drop your knife and head back up the stairs. Go through the gate to the north where you see skeletons. Go to the west to a bridge, you will need to weigh 0kg or less.. The boots take off -4. If you weigh more then 0kg the bridge will break and you will fall and take 20 damage, you can still get lever by climbing up the bank and get it but you will need to go up the ladder and walk back to the temple from Hemenster. I weighed -4kg since all I had was the boots and the candle. Once across the bridge go in room and pick up the lever then head back to the bank.

You will need to keep wearing the pendant, keep the lever and grab melee armor, food, and weapon if you want to fight the lev 61 ice spiders. Head back to the temple and climb back down the ladder. On the wall just south of the ladder will be a lever bracket. Use the lever with the bracket. Now pull the lever and it unlocks the south gate. Go through the gate and follow the path until you come to chest in small alcoves off to the left and right along the tunnel, search the chests to find the Ice Arrows, keep searching the chests till you get from 25 to 50 arrows depending on how many you feel you need, there is a total of 6 chests to search. Once you get your arrows head back to the bank. (I grabbed 31 arrows)

Once again at the bank put away your melee armor and grab your magic resistant armor. I wore my Range Armor. Grab your bow, yew or magic. Food and Prayer pots to replenish points if you are able to use protect from magic. And yes keep wearing your pendant. I myself took tele-grab runes incase I ran out of arrows I can grab them up. Head back to the temple once you got everything equipped. Head down ladder and through the north gate with skeletons and head north across the room. Keep going north till you get to the lever with a trapdoor underneath. Search the lever above the trapdoor for traps and disarm them. If you fail to do so you will fall through the trapdoor and take on 20 damage from spikes. Once you pull the lever head to the west and go through the door. Walk across the room and when you try to open the door the Fire Giant will appear and say you may not pass and begin to blast you with magic. Protect from magic works. Now that he is dead you go back to the bank.

Now get out your melee armor, 20 limpwort roots, food and a weapon. And you still wearing the pendant. Head back to the temple and go down to the room where you fought the fire giant. Go through the door you was not allowed to go through the first time. Talk to Winelda, and she will take your limpwort roots and teleport you across the lava. Follow the tunnel all the way to the end past ladder and room and you will run by lesser demons and see a shiny key on the floor, pick it up. Go back to the room and push on the wall.

Now you need to make a decision of which side you want to go with…
Guardians:
Take off your pendant and talk to a Guard and explain to them you are working for Lucien, they will be upset but tell them it is time for your bath and they will cleanse you and ask you to kill him, then they will give you a pendant. Go out the room and go climb up the ladder and you will appear in a building north of Mcgrubbors Woods. Use the key with the door and head to Varrock. And head north out of Varrock by following the path to the east of the castle, then follow the castle wall to the west then south and you will see a building with Lucien inside. Walk in wearing the pendant the guard gave you and fight him, he is only level 14. Quest complete and you get rewarded.
Lucien:
Go into the small room with the staff, when you go to pick it up the guards will attack when all is dead in the room then grab the staff and head out of the room. Go out the room and go climb up the ladder and you will appear in a building north of Mcgrubbors Woods. Use the key with the door and head to Varrock. And head north out of Varrock by following the path to the east of the castle, then follow the castle wall to the west then south and you will see a building with Lucien inside. Go in and talk to him and give him the staff and you will then complete the quest and be rewarded.
