The Underground Pass, sealed for thousands of years, has now been reopened to reveal a complex labyrinth of tunnels and chasms. You must find a way through, and get one step closer to the evil King Tyras. But the road is long and it could be lonely. When fatigue starts to take it's toll, mental strength is what you'll need...

The Underground Pass is the third part of our ongoing Members' Quest

  • Must beat three level 91 demons
  • Must have completed Biohazard Quest
  • Good thieving and agility is an advantage

  1. Begin the quest by heading to the castle to speak with King Lathas in Ardougne. When you talk to him you will learn about Iban. He will ask you to meet his scout Koftik found in East Ardougne at a cave to the far west. Just leave the castle and go through the big gates to enter East Ardougne and walk west till you see the scout. Be sure to your armor on and weapon and food. (Just overall best if you have all the items already)

  2. When you find Koftik he will tell you about the spirits in the Underground Pass and tell you he will meet you at the bridge inside. When you enter the cave there is a swamp, use rope with the stalagmite to swing across it. If you did not bring rope then climb the rockslides by the swamp.

  3. You see Koftik again and he mentions how someone else has been here and that he found a diary as well as burned arrows. He will give you damp cloth that you use with the arrows to make Cloth-covered Arrow. Speak with him again to get mroe to do all your arrows. Light them with your tinderbox or a nearby fire.

  4. Once you have your arrows lit you now need to shoot them at the rope on the bridge across the river. To do this go around to the north path behind the gate and shoot the guide rope for the drawbridge. When you hit it you will automatically go across the bridge. Go on into the room and pick up a plank for later on. There will be lev 31 Goblins and Spiders around.

  5. There will be two paths one has a swamp that you can't get across but if you go the other one there is a rock sticking out of the top that you use your rope on. Hopefully you make it across but if not you fall in the hole and get hurt. If you fall then follow the path climbing over rockslides till you get back to the start. If you fail you do lose your rope. If you manage to get across without falling then folow path and you will see Koftik again.

  6. When you talk to him again you will find a grid you need to cross by finding a correct way across. The grid is different for every person and if you step on the wrong tile you will fall and get really hurt. Once you manage to get across you then pull the lever to open the portcullis and go through.

  7. Follow the path and go past the Zombies. There will be a narrow path to go through with traps in the walls. If your thieving is high enough you can search the wall to disarm them as you go. If not run and hope you make it through and/or not hurt to much. Once passed you will be in the Alter room with a well and 4 paths.

  8. At this point you can pray at the Alter if your prayer points are not full. Now you will need to go through each path to retrieve the Orb of Lights.
    • North path you will cross flat rocks using the plank you picked up earlier. Get across and grab the Orb of Light and work your way back to the Alter room.
    • Northwest path you will need to avoid the spiders and ogres till you get ot the end and get the Orb of Light and work your way back to the Alter room.
    • West path is same as North where you will cross flat rocks using the plank you picked up earlier. Get across and grab the Orb of Light and work your way back to the Alter room.
    • Southwest path you will just follow and see the Orb on the stone, but you need to disarm the trap before you can take it. Search the Flat rock to discover the trap and disarm it. If you fail you will get damaged. Once you disarm the trap you take Orb of Light and return to the Alter room.

  9. Now go back the east path remembering to disarm the traps or pray to make it through with not much damage. There will be a furnace (a stone one) you need to use the orbs with. Once down with this you now go back through the path with the traps either disarming again or running.

  10. Now climb down the well. If you have room in your inventory or need food there is crates you can search for food. Moving on you will follow the path till you get to the Slave area. Picklock cage to the southeast then using your spade with the mud.

  11. Now you move along west to a ledge. Edge your way across, you will find yourself in a spike pit with narrow bridges. If your thieving is 50 or above then you can picklock the gates to the south.But if you do not then you will have to work yourself through the long route crossing the narrow bridges till you get to the end. You can fall and take damage. If you do fall you just return to the nearest re-entry of the narrow bridge and try again.

  12. Head along the path to the Obstacle pipe and climb through it. There will be a unicorn in a cage. Search the cage to find loose railing. Follow the path to the back of the cage and use the piece of railing on the boulder there. It will fall on top the unicorn and kill it. Head back and search the cage for a unicorn horn. Go over to the nearby Cave located to the north.

  13. There will be some zombies about, but keep moving until you see Harry, Carl and Jerro. Talk to each one. One will give you some food, attack potion and prayer potion. You will need to kill each one to get the 3 crests (red, blue and green).

  14. Once you have the crests you will need to move on following the northwest path using your plank as before to get across the flat rocks. Once you get across you will see another well in which you search then use the 3 crests with along with the unicorn horn.

  15. Go through the doors into the next area. This will be the maze area you will spend some time in and lose health in as well and where the higher agility comes in handy. Head south and pay attention to the 3 bridges you see for later on in the quest. Keep heading south until you see a staircase along the wall to the west. When you go down it you will end up at the Dwarven Camp.

  16. There is 3 drawfs. Kamen will give you food. Niloof will give you some Dwarven Brew that packs a punch but he will give you food as well. Then talk to Kamen again to hear about a witch who knows how to kill Iban. Koftik is here and is completely possessed now.

  17. Head back up the stairs and the east wall again, go along the first bridge you come too. If you fail you will fall into the underground and take large damage and will have to start over. When you fall you are near a bunch of soulesses, walk south to end up near the Dwarven Camp. If you make it across the obstacles head to the nearby hut.

  18. Search the hut's window to see the witch is looking for her cat. (do not knock on the door at anytime) Now go back to the path following it north, west, north, west until you find the cat. Pick it up and return to the hut. Use cat with the door. While the witch is occupied with her cat you can now enter the house and open the chest to find a doll, journal and potions. Head back to the narrow bridges from the hut and go west onto the next platform.

  19. Once you are ont he platform go south completing the obstacles until you arrive at the 3 level 91 demons. Kill the demons one at a time to retrieve the amulets they drop. Head north to the chest. Open it to get the Sadow of Iban that you use with the doll you got form the witch's hut. Now head back to the Dwarven Camp to talk to Klank.

  20. Once you get to the camp and talk to Klank he will give you his guantlets and tinderbox. Put on the guantlets and hold on to the tinderbox if you did not bring one or kept it since you lit your arrows. Head into the house which is larger than the other. Grab the bucket and go over to the other house to use your bucket with the barrel there.

  21. Head east to the Tomb and use your dwarf brew on it and light it with your tinderbox. Once done collect the ashes and use with the doll as well. Now head north to the spider pit.

  22. Once you get to the spider pit you will see Kalrag a spider that you need to kill. Once it is dead it will automatically collect the spider blood and add it to your doll. Now go back into the maze to the east wall. Head to the northernest bridge.

  23. Once there go across the bridge into the maze. Be sure to be wearing Klanks guantlets since the soulesses will try to bite you after each cage search. Search the cages till you find the Dove skeleton which you will use with your doll too.

  24. Head back out and go to the middle bridge and go across them than go south to the Iban disciples. Kill them until you get a set of Zamorak Robes. Put them on. You are only permitted to wear the robes. No armor, weapon, ammy or ring and so forth is allowed. Once you are ready approach the temple and enter. You will see a well in which you need to useddoll with. You will be wised to use protect form magic here since there is root like things that come down and up out of the floor when Iban begins blasting his magic to stop you from getting to the well. Sometimes if you get hit you will get tossed back at the start of the room. Once you get to use the doll with the well Iban will die.

  25. Once he dies you wwill get transported automatically to another room and find in your inventory the Staff of Iban, 15 death runes and 30 fire runes. In the room you will see Koftik so go talk to him to find him sane. Once done talking to him go back out and return to King Lathas in East Ardougne. Quest Complete!

*Staff of Iban: it will run out of charges. It is rumored that it can run out from 60 to 120 uses.. when it runs out you can recharge it by going back to the Underground Pass and using it at the Flames of Zamorak. If you lose your staff you need to kill one of the Iban disciples till you get a broken staff and taking it to the Dark Mage in West Ardougne who will repair it for 200k.
